Tails-A-Waggin Animal Hospital understands the stress and anxiety you feel if your pet needs surgery. Our experienced, professional staff will treat your pet with the utmost care and compassion. Our veterinarian and staff have extensive surgical experience and will care for your pet as if he or she were our own.
It is important to us to provide individual, compassionate pre and post-surgical care for each patient. Therefore, we will communicate with you through every step of your pet’s surgical procedure to keep you fully informed, as well as address any questions or concerns you may have, including those regarding the surgical techniques used, pain management, and/or post-operative care.
General surgical procedures performed at Tails-A-Waggin Animal Hospital include:
- Spay, Neuter
- Soft Tissue/General Surgery (i.e., growth removal)
- Emergency Surgery (wound repair, laceration repair, foreign object removal)
- Orthopedic surgery
- Feline Declawing (Laser Only)
- Dental surgical procedures, such as tooth extraction
- Corrective Cosmetic Procedures
When possible, we utilize state-of-the-art laser equipment for almost all of our surgical procedures. Both of these options help your pet heal quicker and feel better faster. The use of laser equipment in surgery minimizes the pain that follows an operation because it seals the nerve endings as they are cut. In addition, the laser has virtually no effect on the surrounding tissues, meaning we can more precisely pinpoint the surgical area.
Anesthesia and Patient Monitoring
We utilize the safest, multi-modal anesthesia techniques available and provide the same level of patient monitoring that you would receive if you were having surgery. During surgery, we monitor all of your pet’s vital signs with state of the art equipment as well as manual techniques (pulse ox, respiratory monitoring, EKG, temperature monitoring, ventilator, oxygen).
We may require pre-surgical blood work so we can evaluate your pet’s kidney, liver and heart function prior to undergoing anesthesia.
Your pet’s comfort is very important to us. Comprehensive pain management is utilized before, during and after your pet’s surgical procedure to keep them as comfortable as possible. We will also provide you with pain management medication for your pet when he or she is ready to leave the hospital.
